Please ensure your child is well dressed for the rainy Vancouver weather.
For those who attended school in BC, you will remember that throughout your childhood, rain (or snow) never stopped children from playing outside at recess and lunch. Sometimes schools had a basement, sometimes an undercover area, sometimes neither. Regardless, we were encouraged to dress for the weather and “get some fresh air.”
We continue to share the same message with children since we live in Vancouver and it rains more than we like! We also share this message because teachers have supervision free recess and lunch. We cannot ask them to supervise children on rainy days. Rather, our Supervision Aides supervise outside where sight lines allow for easier supervision of students.
I was outside all lunch hour with a rain jacket and hood supervising children. I also got very wet but did not wet my clothes or socks because i had a rain coat on and I did not step in puddles, nor lie down in puddles like some children, surprisingly, chose to do.
Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed for the rain. If your child was particularly wet, check in with them to see what they would need to better protect themselves from the rain.
One of our amazing parents, Fariba, is organizing the Grade 7 and 8 Hoodies. A group of 4 parents came today to size the kids who ordered.
We are looking for 1-2 more parents – Preferably Grade 8 parents so they can support their children – to help tomorrow morning.
Your help is needed from 8:45am until about 10:00am (or whenever we finish). It is easy work but WE NEED GRADE 8 PARENT HELP!
Please email me if you can come: firstname.lastname@example.org
Remembrance Day Ceremonies: Each year the school holds Remembrance Day Ceremonies. This year the K-4 ceremony will take place Thursday at 9:45am. The Grade 5-8 Ceremony will be held at 11:00am. Parents are welcome to attend. Please note that this ceremony is a silent one so no clapping or talking throughout please.
All children will wear a Poppy. If you do not have one, your child may get one from the office. There are also donation boxes there if you wish to donate a loonie or a toonie.
LEGO Robotics: Please note that class is cancelled this week!
No School Monday: Along with Friday being a ProD day, Monday there is no school. This is in lieu of Remembrance Day which falls on Sunday this year.
It has come to my attention that some parents are a bit confused about how the Goal Setting Conference works and when they can book with the teacher.
All the necessary information, including the link to sign up, was posted on the NRP App by the school November 2. There is no separate notices being sent home.
Please DOWNLOAD THE APP to find the sign up link:

Along with that it is the main tool for the school administration to keep parents informed. In case of any emergency, the NRP App will be the tool used for communication! The App also sends reminders about daily and/or weekly events at the school. The NRP App allows for translation in many, man languages! The App also allows your child`s teachers to communicate to you so please: Go to Settings and turn on Notifications for that Community
